M1 Swimming Club

The following information outlines how Tateswim squad members can join M1 Swimming Club and participate in competitions.

  • Club membership has the following benefits:

    • allows swimmers to participate in competitions (Swimming Victoria requires swimmers to join a club to enter competitions)

    • being part of a team

    • provides a goal for swimmers to train for

    • Junior swimmers can aim to achieve standards in Swimming Australia’s Junior Excellence Program

  • Generally, swimmers need to be in Junior 1 Squad or above before joining M1.

Swimmers in Dolphins, Development, Youth and Open Squads have the option to join M1.

Swimmers in the Sprinters, Youth (Comp), Competition and Performance Squads are expected to join M1.

  • The season starts in July each year, so we usually recommend joining around this time. It is possible to join at any point in the year.

  • Competitive swimmers typically attend a swim meet 2-3 times per term. Most swim meets run for about 3-4 hours and are held on a Saturday or Sunday (morning or afternoon).

  • Refer to our competition calendar for the list of swim meets suitable for each squad.

  • The following is a guide to the costs involved with joining M1:

    • Annual membership fee (click here for details)

    • Entry fees to participate in each swim meet

    • Club uniform costs

    • Tateswim charges competitive members of M1 a Competition Coaching Fee for coaches attendance at selected swim meets. Refer to our fees page for more information.
