Tateswim’s Squad Programs are designed to suit a wide range of swimmers training for a variety of reasons, catering for both competitive and non-competitive swimmers.
Swimmers are allocated to the appropriate squad based on various factors including age, ability, commitment level, goals and psychological/physical developmental level.
At all squad levels, Tateswim members are encouraged to enjoy the swimming experience and the good health that comes with regular swimming training and exercise.

Tateswim's squad structure is represented below in a flow chart. The chart highlights the progression and movement from squad to squad.
Junior 2 and 3 levels consist of subgroups named after our coaches' favourite Victorian beaches. Having subgroups of the same standard training at different times and locations gives families more flexibility and convenience.
Competitive Squads: Junior 1, Junior State, State Age, State Performance and National Performance Squads are Tateswim's competitive swimming squads. Swimmers in these squads are expected to join the M1 Swimming Club and attend swim meets as outlined by coaches. Swimmers in other squads may join M1 and compete if they wish.
