Competitive swimming and M1 Swimming Club

The following information briefly outlines how swimmers in Tateswim can get involved with competitive swimming. For more detailed information on competitive swimming, contact Tateswim on 0415 125 823 or email info@tateswim.com.au.

An information session about joining the club is also held each year around April/May.  All Tateswim members will be emailed an invitation to the information session.

General information

Joining M1 Swimming Club

Any member of Tateswim’s squad training program is welcome to participate in competitive swimming. In order to be able to compete in swim meets in Victoria and beyond, it is necessary to belong to a Swimming Victoria affiliated swimming club.  Our swimming club is the M1 Swimming Club.

To become a member of M1, go to www.m1swimmingclub.org.au and go to the membership page and join as a new member. An annual membership fee will be payable (using a credit card). The swimming season runs from May 1 to April 30 (so it is wise to join before September each season).

Swimmers from any of Tateswim's squads may join M1.  All swimmers in Tateswim’s Performance Program (Junior State, Development, State Age and Performance Squads) are required to join M1. Swimmers in J1 who wish to progress into Junior State or Development will be required to join M1.

Participate at swim meets

Once you have joined your child to the club, you will be ready to start entering your child into swim meets.  Tateswim coaches will hold ‘entries work shops’ throughout the year to assist people with entering meets.

Essentially, coaches will select suitable swim meets for swimmers to enter and list these meets in the ‘Calendar and Events’ section of the M1 website. Each swimmer can choose how regularly they wish to attend swim meets.

Purchase club uniform

Once you have joined the club, it’s a good idea to purchase club uniform so your child can feel part of the team.  Refer to the ‘Uniform’ section of the M1 website for more information on purchasing uniform.

Happy Racing!!
